About Me

Hello! I’m Celia. I’m a runner, city dweller, new mama former small-town Iowan. My husband Kurt and I live on the northwest side of the city of Chicago with our toddler. We love outdoor activities, traveling, and trying new restaurants. I grew up on a family farm in northern Iowa. My parents’ still farm and I get back to visit as often as I can. I have a background in journalism and law, and I currently work in the energy industry by day.

I started Chicago Jogger in August 2013, not long after my wedding. K and I got married in our favorite Midwest destination – Door County, Wisconsin. I spent most of my extra free time over 10 months planning this event, and once we were married I decided I needed a creative outlet as a hobby.

I have been a regular reader of healthy lifestyle, food, and fitness blogs for years and decided to focus Chicago Jogger on healthy recipes, running, travel and city living. I consider myself a lifelong casual runner {jogger}. I started running on the middle school track team, and joined cross-country in high school. I wasn’t winning any races {far from it} but participating resulted in friendships I still hold today. With this blog, my goal is to motivate myself and others to run, stay active and try healthy recipes more often.
